1. Introduction
Claire is a voice-first companion designed to support older adults and the people who care for them. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, store, and protect personal information when you use Claire.
By using Claire, you acknowledge the practices described here. This policy applies to our website, mobile application, and related services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information needed to provide and improve Claire. The categories may include:
- Account and profile information, such as names, email addresses, preferred language, relationship details, and account settings.
- Care context that you choose to provide, such as reminders, care preferences, emergency contacts, and linked family relationships.
- Voice and conversation information, including voice input while you use a voice feature, transcripts, and conversation-related records.
- Health and wearable information that you choose to connect or share, such as activity, sleep, heart rate, oxygen saturation, medication status, and similar wellbeing signals.
- Device and service information, such as device identifiers, IP address, app version, log data, and service interactions.
- Communications you send to us and, if we offer paid features, payment-related information handled by our payment providers.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to operate Claire, personalise the experience you request, support linked care accounts, generate summaries and alerts, respond to requests, protect the service, and understand how Claire is performing.
We may also use information to meet legal obligations, enforce our terms, investigate misuse, and improve features. We do not sell personal information.
4. Family / Elderly Account Sharing
Claire can connect an older adult's account with authorised family or caregiver accounts. Depending on the permissions and features in use, linked accounts may receive selected summaries, alerts, medication status, care signals, and health trends.
A linked family account is not automatically entitled to every conversation or piece of information. We aim to keep sharing limited to the care information needed for the selected experience. Account holders should only invite people they trust and should promptly remove access that is no longer appropriate.
5. Voice Data and Transcripts
When you use voice features, Claire processes voice input to understand your request and provide a response. Raw audio is not retained by default after live processing, but transcripts or structured conversation records may be retained when needed for continuity, summaries, safety, and service delivery.
You are responsible for obtaining permission before recording or submitting another person's voice or personal information through Claire.
6. Health and Wearable Data
If you choose to connect Apple Health, Health Connect, or another supported source, Claire receives the health data permitted through that connection. You can change or revoke those permissions through your device and connected-service settings, although some Claire features may no longer work as intended.
Health and wearable data can help Claire show trends, summaries, reminders, and care signals. It is not a substitute for medical advice or professional care.
7. Personal Memory and Baselines
Claire may create concise personal-memory summaries and health baselines from the information you provide and the service activity you choose to share. These records help Claire respond with continuity and identify changes from a person's usual pattern.
You may ask us to review, correct, or delete these records, subject to the limits described in this policy and applicable law.
8. AI Processing
Claire uses AI systems to process requests and produce responses, summaries, and insights. Depending on the feature, this can include relevant transcript text, health context, and account-provided information. AI output can be incomplete or incorrect and should be reviewed with care.
We use service providers to support this processing and take steps designed to limit information to what is relevant to the requested feature.
9. Service Providers
We use carefully selected providers to run Claire, including providers for authentication and data storage, live voice, AI processing, embeddings, analytics and observability, communications, and infrastructure. These providers may process information only as needed to provide services to us and subject to their contractual and legal obligations.
Our current service providers include Supabase for account and application data, LiveKit and Gemini for live voice features, OpenRouter and model providers for AI workflows, OpenAI for embeddings, and Langfuse for sanitised observability metadata.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These include TLS for data in transit, safeguards provided by our hosting and data-storage providers for data at rest, access controls, and service monitoring.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use a strong password, keep your device secure, and contact us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
11. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Claire, maintain records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, meet legal obligations, and protect the service. Retention varies by the type of information and feature used.
You can request account deletion by contacting us. Some information may remain in backups or be retained where required or permitted by law.
12. User Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, receive a copy of, correct, delete, or restrict certain uses of your personal information. You may also withdraw consent where our processing depends on consent.
To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity and authority before responding.
13. Taiwan Privacy Rights
If the Personal Data Protection Act of Taiwan applies to you, you may request access to or review of your personal data, a copy of your personal data, correction or completion of inaccurate data, cessation of collection, processing, or use, and deletion. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in applicable law.
You can make a request by contacting Claire at the address below.
14. International Data Transfers
Claire and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
15. Children / Minors
Claire is not intended for children. If a minor uses Claire, a parent or legal guardian must provide any consent required by applicable law and supervise the account as appropriate.
16. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as Claire changes or as required by law. We will post the updated version on this page and change the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.
